Non-retractile foreskin is a physiological phenomenon common in younger boys, sometimes present until puberty. It is distinct from phimosis (although, confusing, is sometimes referred to as 'physiological phimosis').
Phimosis is when scar tissue on the distal foreskin prevents retraction.
Paraphimosis is when the foreskin is left in the retracted position and cannot be brought forward.
