Feed volumes for newborns

Referrals pathways for Regional Paediatric model

The following feed volumes are appropriate for newborns at BHS, both in the SCN and on postnatal wards, who are not receiving breast feeds.

Please note that the Paediatric Department supports breast feeding where possible and promotes this as having many benefits to both infant physical health as well as infant-mother bonding.

Term babies:

* note that higher maximum feed volumes may be used in some circumstances under the instruction of the Paediatric Unit
